1 pack of filo dough (thawed)
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup chopped pistachios or walnuts
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sugar
½ cup water
2 tbsp honey or orange blossom water
1 tbsp lemon juice
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease baking dish.
Crinkle buttered filo sheets into pan until full.
Sprinkle nut mixture between folds if desired.
Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden.
Prepare syrup: simmer sugar, water, lemon juice, and honey for 10 mins.
Pour warm syrup over hot cake. Let sit for 1 hour.
Substitute coconut oil for vegan version.
