Irresistible Matilda’s Chocolate Cake

A rich and moist chocolate cake that’s perfect for any occasion. This cake is layered with a delicious chocolate buttercream frosting, making it a delightful treat for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups granulated sugar

1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

4. Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. If desired, fold in chocolate chips.

5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

8. Once cooled, frost with chocolate buttercream frosting as desired.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality cocoa powder and chocolate.

Let the cake cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.

This cake can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
